Some schools ask you to manage a site. This role asks you to lead one.
Hartmore School is an independent SEND school for children aged 7 to 18 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and we believe every one of them can succeed when they're met exactly where they are. What sets us apart is the balance we hold: we build genuine, trusting relationships that make children feel safe, and we pair that nurture with small, graduated challenges that build confidence, self-belief and resilience and prepare them for the world beyond our walls. It's a place of professional warmth, where staff are trusted and supported to do what they do best: connect with some of the most vulnerable children in our area and help them realise their own potential.
If that's the kind of school you want to be part of and the kind of work that resonates with you, we'd love to hear from you.
This is hands-on, high-trust leadership. You'll be the person staff turn to when something needs deciding now, the person families trust to tell them the truth, and the person senior leaders rely on to know exactly what's really happening on site. We're looking for a Provision Lead who wants their leadership felt in every classroom, not just seen in a report.
What you'll actually be doing
-
Running your site day-to-day — visible, present, and quick to act when something needs a decision.
-
Leading, coaching and holding your staff team to account, including appraisal, supervision and professional development.
-
Acting as Deputy DSL and Assistant SENCO — real statutory responsibility, not just a line on a job description.
-
Making sure EHCP provision happens in practice, not just on paper, and monitoring the quality of teaching and adaptive practice across your site.
-
Leading de-escalation, restorative practice and behaviour support that actually changes outcomes for pupils who've been let down by education before.
-
Owning your site's budget, resources, and quality assurance — and telling senior leaders what they need to hear, not what's easy to say.
What you'll bring
-
Qualified Teacher Status and significant experience working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
-
Real leadership experience — you've managed people, held difficult conversations, and made decisions that stuck.
-
Secure knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, KCSIE, and what safeguarding looks like in practice, not just in policy.
-
The resilience to stay calm and regulated when the day doesn't go to plan — because in this setting, it often won't.
-
A full, clean manual driving licence and the willingness to travel between sites.
Why Hartmore School
You'll be trusted with real autonomy from day one, backed by senior leaders who treat you as a professional resource rather than a name on an org chart. You'll work alongside people who've chosen to do the hardest, most important job in education — giving vulnerable young people a version of school that finally works for them. If you want a leadership role with genuine weight and genuine reward, this is it.
Safeguarding
Hartmore School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Successful candidates will require:
-

-

-

-
Requirement for satisfactory references (including most recent employer). Please note that references may be sought before interview as part of our safer recruitment procedures.
-
Online / social media checks in line with statutory guidance
