A specialist independent day-provision for children aged 7 to 18 years Hartmore School's pupil population is predominately made up of children who have a Special Educational Need and Disability (SEND) in the categories of Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH). Whilst also seeing an increase in diagnoses such as ASD, ADHD, OCD, PDA, and sensory processing difficulties..With many of our pupils being at a significant educational disadvantaged, we believe we can, and do, make a difference to each of the individuals within our care, impacting their future lives for the better. Therefore our school offers four provisions across three individual sites to provide the best possible bespoke and individual care required for each of our pupils.
Our experienced staff team have a proven record of re-engaging even the most educationally alienated children; helping them achieve measurable progress, enjoy learning and begin to make up for lost opportunities. We offer a high adult-pupil ratios in the classroom, with typically very small class sizes with a diverse well trained and highly cohesive teaching team.
Some of our pupils have experienced significant attachment difficulties and trauma during their early childhood; others find coping with unpredictability and high levels of social pressure difficult and destabilising; almost all have not yet developed the necessary emotional maturity and skills necessary for consistently regulating their emotions. As such, we endeavour to provide a learning environment which is both calm and structured with a team that not only inspires a fresh love of learning, but are able to positively and calmly manage distressed and challenging children. With our therapeutic, child-centred approach, having proven success in helping children who had previously felt school wasn’t possible for them.
