Llanrug Residential ⛰️

Our KS4 pupils returned from their residential in Llanrug with muddy boots, huge smiles and a week full of memories that will stay with them for years.

From exploring underground slate mines to climbing mountains in wild Welsh weather, every day offered a new adventure. Pupils challenged themselves on zip lines and abseils, scrambled over rocks, paddled across Llyn Padarn, solved woodland team tasks, and even cooked over open fires after a day of stream‑walking. The activities were exciting, but the real magic was watching pupils discover what they were capable of.

Throughout the week, they showed remarkable resilience, courage and teamwork. Many stepped far outside their comfort zones — and surprised themselves with their determination. We saw young people encouraging one another, taking the lead, communicating clearly, and growing in confidence with every challenge. These are the kinds of life skills that shape them long after they return to the classroom.

The week was filled with laughter, shared achievements and moments of pride that captured exactly what outdoor learning is all about: giving pupils the chance to learn about themselves, each other and the world around them.

A huge thank you to the staff team who supported the residential and helped create such a positive, memorable experience for our pupils.
